Our story
Built on a Passion for Fine Joinery
The Fitted Wardrobes Company was founded in 2003 by master carpenter Richard Hale, following fifteen years spent working with some of London's foremost interior designers and architectural practices. Frustrated by the gap between off-the-shelf furniture and truly bespoke joinery, Richard set out to build a company that would treat every home as a unique commission.
From a single workshop in Battersea, the company has grown into a team of twenty skilled craftspeople, designers, and installation specialists — yet the founding principle remains unchanged: every wardrobe we make is designed from scratch, built by hand, and installed with care.

We source sustainably certified timbers, premium veneers, and hand-finished lacquers from suppliers we have worked with for years. Every component — from the carcass to the smallest hinge — is chosen for longevity and beauty.
Solid Hardwoods
European oak, walnut, and ash, kiln-dried and hand-selected for grain consistency.
Premium Veneers
Book-matched and quarter-sawn veneers applied over MDF for dimensional stability.
Hand-Applied Lacquers
Water-based lacquers in any RAL or Farrow & Ball colour, applied in our spray booth.
Blum Hardware
Soft-close hinges, undermount drawer runners, and lift systems from Blum — guaranteed for life.
